Wallpaper Wedding Decor

Martha Stewart Weddings is a top place to go for inspiration and ideas for weddings and events. All you artsy, crafty, DIYers out there - you know whats up. The Winter 2012 edition shared a lot of great tips and ideas, one of which I thought was really cool. Using wallpaper for your decor. How cool is that? Especially, when there are so many different types out there to choose from. Hope these bring you some inspiration!

Beautiful Banners

Being a lover of anything handmade, it is no surprise I would love banners. Not only are they easy to display but there are so many out there, the possibilities are endless. Plus, you can make them yourself. If you are not as crafty as you wish you were, here are some I came across on Etsy that I think are really great.

These would be an awesome addition to any event. Having items that are unique and handcrafted really add a sense of style like no other. Have fun shopping around and I hope these give you some inspiration to design with confidence and style.

Seapinks

I am in love with this Etsy shop! Handmade items are one of the only few things that truly get me excited so when I came across this shop I had to share. You have to really appreciate the love and hard work that goes into making these precious items. All are beautiful and whimsy. Right up my alley. Support indie artists out there and shop on Etsy people!

Seapinks' designer, Jennifer Hall is not only an artist but a craftswoman as well. Based out of Virginia, her love of nature and animals truly shows through her work and the details are impeccable. Some will make you laugh and others will make you go "awe" but you can guarantee they will all put a smile on your face. Stop by her shop and take a look around!

Here are some of my favorite items:

It's Raining Paper

I came across these gorgeous paper creations and had to share them. I have always loved paper and stationary products so it makes sense that I would grow up to be a crafter. The things people can do with it are amazing and truly inspiring. Here are some beautiful and unique works from D. Sharp (aka: Denise Sharp) - Artisan Details for Inspired Celebrations. Stunning!

Decorating Your Way to a Great Party

I recently had my engagement party and wanted to share the decor with my readers. I always like to keep decorations simple but fun and this was a surely a great example of that. For any party, it is good to have sections for people to go to. I created a gathering area where people can talk and chill out and munch on some snacks. The food area was where I presented all the yummy eats for the day and a small section was dedicated to our engagement story.

I focused on pastels, lace and whimsy decor, all handmade by yours truly. From flower pinwheels and cute little tags to white flowers and herbs, the look and feel was a tiny introduction to our wedding next May. Nature inspired, Spring's beautiful colors shined bright without blinding everyone! I also have to give a shout out to my cousin Diana and Aunt Deb for giving me a number of paper poofs they used for Diana's engagement party the weekend before. Recycling is always a bonus! I am happy to say the party was a huge success :)

Attention Bookworms

Today technology seems to take over everything. Being in the creative field I can sure appreciate it but my love for handmade items and vintage style will never fade. Between the iPad and the Kindle and other e-readers out there, it's hard not to get distracted. However, let's not forget how wonderful books are. There is nothing like holding a book and disappearing into another world. The paper between your fingers, the excitement of turning the page and yes, being surrounded by them in your home. Books are awesome!

One thing that comes hand in hand with a book is a bookmark. Sure, you can use scrap paper or something you found around the house but having one that looks nice makes the experience a little more special. Check out my new vintage inspired bookmarks for sale in my Etsy shop. I will creating a whole line of bookmarks, all different styles and shapes. These are the first 2 in the corner series. Spread the word!

Newbies

Here are some of the new items in my etsy shop. I haven't had much time in the past few months to set aside for creating but I plan to this spring and summer. I have many ideas, just need to get these hands a workin! My favorite things to make are little cute items that should be adored. I also love paper, I actually LOVE paper. I buy pads and notebooks just to have them! I figure I'll get to them someday. So I will be bangin out a new series of custom pads very soon as well.

Lately, I have been really into creating handmade items. There is something about a handmade gift you just can't beat. It shows it was made from the heart and everything I produce really comes from mine. I love creating things and giving them to people or being able to make some extra cash by selling them is awesome. It makes me very happy. Just doing my part to spread the love and show my skills in the process.

Decorative Flower Sign $10
These little signs are made from balsa wood and designed with stamps, colored pencils and paper. I recently gave the first one to a friend of mine for her birthday. It made me so happy to see her in love. It received some nice feedback so I've decided to make more. A whole lot more!

Handmade Crafty Card $5
This card was designed to go with the little sign but is available by itself. Just a cute little decorative card made with love.

It was always you... $6
I love this card. Give this to someone you love and I'm sure there will be a smile on their face.

It's All in the Details

There is nothing I love more than the special elements of a design or space. They can be subtle or visually vibrant but are placed perfectly as if they were meant to be there. It's these pops of sunshine that bring a cohesive flow to a design. Nothing should stand out among the rest unless its a main focal point of a room. Everything should come together in harmony. If you don't hear those birds a chirpin and the warm sun's rays on your face, then something just isn't right.

Here are some beautiful and unique works of art I found on Etsy that would make an excellent addition to your DIY design.
